Alex Shapiro: Let’s start from the fact, that the action takes place somewhere in the North (trees’ height is lower than human’s). The thing that catches our attention is what this girls look like. It’s obvious, that they came to the forest not for mushrooms, because they have no baskets, still they have heavy make-up on them. The forest is muddy, judging by the taller girl’s black tarpaulin boots.
By all appearances, the shorter girl has a wide outlook: looking at her eyes, it’s clear, that her view angle totals all 360 degrees. What is more, she is also a brain center, judging by the size of her head. The taller girl knows, where to go, the smaller one resists her. This way the artist wanted to show ambivalence of human’s inner world. Erected twigs of the firs, that the rouged have girls already passed by, make this picture especially piquant.
