Alex Shapiro: Judging by frontiersmen’s happy faces and the fact that their hats are cocked, they are demobees. They are running unhurriedly, because, judging by the traces, they are chasing after one-legged trespasser of the frontier. The trespasser threw à grenade into them, as can be seen by a bush flying in the sky (see the upper right corner). The trespasser’s faith is already predetermined by the artist: frontiersmen are leading tame infuriated bears on a leash.
A detail of the drawing, which, unfortunately, is beyond experts’ understanding (a fragment of image of the right frontiersman’s left hand), gives this picture some kind of incompleteness, that’s why the picture takes on a philosophical tint.

The dude in the right might hold a flower, telling us he's a pacifist, having to do his job, thought he hates it. (Reply)
